Cost of Living Event Offers a Helping Hand to Tameside Residents

Date Released - 05/08/2022

A HELPING hand for Tameside residents launched with a drop in event at Tameside One on Tuesday 2 August.

Helping Hand is a new campaign from Tameside Council to raise awareness of the different local services that can support residents with the cost of living across a range of issues including finances, mental and physical health, housing and employment.

Local people were invited to attend the launch event to find out about the different local services that can help them as part of an ongoing cost of living campaign.

The launch event was an opportunity for residents to get face-to-face support with services, make appointments, attain resources and ask questions.

The popular event saw a high number of local residents attending to receive support and guidance to the local services that can help them.

Organisations in attendance included Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Cash Box, Jigsaw Homes, Mind, Council Tax and more.

Councillor Jaqueline North, First Deputy with a responsibility for Finance, Resources and Transformation said: “This event was an opportunity for residents to find out about the different support that’s available to them to help with the cost of living. Having our services readily available to contact in Tameside One was a reflection of our evolving Customer Service Offer, where we aim to extend face-to-face access with residents.

“We look forward to branching out with future events in a range of locations and at different times to attract as many residents as possible. In the meantime, residents can find out more about cost of living support on our website.”
